About us

Sunshine Beach Surf Life Saving Club began patrols in the season of 1980/1981 making us one of the youngest Surf Lifesaving clubs in Queensland.

We are a community organisation run by volunteers dedicated to protecting members of the public who surf and swim at Sunshine Beach; one of the best open beach surfing breaks in Queensland. Our volunteer lifeavers patrol every weekend and on Public Holidays between the September school holidays through to the May Day long weekend. Patrol hours are from 7.00am to 5.00pm with extended hours to 6.00pm through the busy christmas period. Council Lifeguards patrol the beach at all other times.

Junior Activities (Nippers) is held on Sundays from September to March. See our nippers page for details.

The nature of surf lifesaving requires a high level of fitness and all active members must complete a yearly fitness swim, theory paper and practical scenarios to remain qualified. See the training and education page for details of training course and annual proficiencies.

For members interested in Surf Sports Sunshine Beach SLSC provides professional coaching for competitors from 7 years of age through to Masters and we are proud to have a number of current Branch, State and Australian Champions amongst our ranks.
