Cadet and youth development focuses on members between the ages of 14-25 years. Our youth make up around 1/4 of our active membership. These keen and enthusiastic young people volunteer numerous hours ensuring a safe swimming environment for the public. Due to their skills, strength and caring attributes many of our youth have been involved in rescuing and saving lives whilst on patrol, on holidays and even after training.
At Sunshine Beach SLSC we believe in supporting and developing our youth for the future of the club and our local community; we provide opportunities to obtain awards that not only help surf lifesaving but are recognised nation-wide and often assist with applications for exciting career opportunities. We subsidise swim squads, board, beach, ski and iron person training for our surf sports enthusiasts and provide patrol & first aid training for both competition and real life situations.
We also provide opportunities for our youth members to participate in team building and social activities and encourage the youth themselves plan their activities and the fundraising needed to cover any costs. Activities in recent years include Surfaris (Noosa Northshore is a popular destination), movie nights, abseiling, laser tag, ski trips and plenty more.
Due to our commitment to the young members of our club we are proud to have been awarded Surf Lifesaving Queensland’s Youth Development Club of the Year for 2005/2006 & 2006/2007 seasons.
Club life at Sunshine Beach SLSC is a highly supportive environment for the youth of today and we encourage you to get involved. Visit the membership page for more information on becoming a Sunshine Beach cadet.
