Youth & Cadets

Cadets and Youth

Sunshine Beach Cadets are our youth members (14-25 years). These keen and enthusiastic young people volunteer numerous hours to lifesaving through patrols and other Club activities. Many are highly successful surf sports competitors but when it comes to Cadets they all love nothing better than to get together to improve their lifesaving skills and simply have some fun.

Cadets plan their own activities (with a bit of guidance) and they raise their own funds to cover costs. These are but a few of their recent ventures: go-karting, themed dinner and movie nights, cycling adventures, paintball, 4 wheel drive and camping trips, and diving on the Great Barrier Reef – awesome!

At Sunshine Beach we believe in supporting and developing our youth, for the future of the club and our local community, and we encourage all our young members to get involved in Cadet life. We provide training to help our youth obtain qualifications that not only support surf lifesaving but give them recognised nation-wide awards that are highly desirable when it comes to gaining meaningful employment. We also subsidise swim squads and competition training to help our cadets develop skills for both competition and real life situations.
